The garden was proposed in 1987 by the then-Mayor of Himeji, Matsuji Totani, to strengthen ties between the people of Himeji and Phoenix, Japan, and Phoenix, Arizona, United States. For this project, the Himeji Gardening and Construction Contractors Association were established. Over the next few years, they paid dozens of visits to the area to finalize the site's selection, research the soil and climate, establish appropriate flora, choose rock, and oversee the building's construction. The teahouse and surrounding tea garden were completed in November 1996, the 20th anniversary of our Sister City relationship. The Japanese Friendship Garden features a stroll garden, a tea garden, a stone garden, and a courtyard garden.

The 215-acre Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium is in Litchfield Park, Arizona, USA. It is close to Phoenix. The zoo has the largest collection of rare animals in Arizona. Lory Parrot Feeding- The Wildlife World Zoo features a Lory feeding exhibit. Visitors can interact with tropical birds here from the South Pacific. Aquarium- The Wildlife World Aquarium is Arizona's first public aquarium, and features salt- and fresh-water species including sea lions and varieties of penguins.
