WOW 3.4 Million Dollar Settlement for Low-speed Whiplash Injuries. How Much Was Your Settlement For Your Auto Accident? Wait What?

About 2 years ago I was looking for videos on low-speed whiplash and the resultant injuries from a low-speed accident and found a video on Youtube. I just couldn’t believe that I found the video described in this article. (See full Video at the end of this article.)

British Rocket Scientist Admits He Doesn’t Know What His Injuries Will Be In Low-Speed Crash.

Unbelievably, a British actor who is an aeronautical expert meaning the guy is a rocket scientist volunteered to be strapped in a 4-wheel giant go kart to mimic what would happen to an occupant in a low-speed motor vehicle accident. In this experiment they prepared a “Crumple Zone” and then mechanically pulled him into a solid pole that was bolted to the floor, which represented a light pole. The crumple zone was placed to mimic a bumper on a motor vehicle. The crumple zone was fashioned from a large steel cooking pan.

A Crumple Zone is defined as a part of a motor vehicle, especially the extreme front and rear, designed to crumple easily in a crash and absorb the main force of an impact. The crumple zone actually does crumple but did little to protect the Human Crash Dummy.

The actor’s name is Jem Stansfield, 46 and is a British Aeronautical expert that starred in a Youtube Video which was produced by the British Broadcasting Company also known as the BBC on their Youtube Channel BBC Earth Channel

Hey That Low-Speed Crash Really Hurt So Now Let’s Do It Backwards.

So he straps himself into his giant Go Kart Rig and is facing backwards and they catapult him into the stationary metal post. Following this crash, he looks directly into the camera and says “I feel OK.” Just like many car crash victims try to say to themselves following a car collision.

Typically, Car Collision Injuries Are The Worst On Day 4 after the Low-Speed Crash

Actually, they are worse on the 4 or 5th day following an auto accident of any type. Crash victims are in an excited state immediately following a motor vehicle collision as they are secreting high levels of adrenaline which is a normal human response to injury. I opine that this is exactly what occurred at the scene of the accident or in the lab if you will for the making of this video. Here are some direct quotes from the actor Jem Stansfield right as they happened in real time. See Time Stamps of video.

00:40 I’ve carefully designed and built this rig to be repeatable and predictable tests make me confident I’ll walk away from this.

My Comment: Most low-speed crash victims walk away from the accident

00:49 What we don’t know is exactly how my body will behave in the crash.

My Comment: I do and I did see my post I made over 2 years ago in comments of video down below.

Graphic stating CRASH DUMMY ACTOR SEATBELTS WORK BUT I STILL GOT WHIPLASH

01:37 the harness holds my body nicely, but my head gets viciously thrown forwards

My Comment: Can you say Whiplash and the injuries occurred immediate upon impact before his head moved forward. The forward movement and then the backward move just add insult to injury.

02:08 that was like a proper shock, but I feel okay…. going backwards felt better

My Comment: I would ask him did going back wards actually feel better or did it feel different. Either way he just subjected himself to Two separate low-speed crashes and both caused him whiplash injury and more than likely spinal ligament damage. I am assuming that it is logical that shooting this video was a quite process and may have taken two to three days considering the professional. So, he subjected himself to two whiplash injuries in a 48-to-72-hour window. The results were obviously disastrous.

Graphic stating CRASH DUMMY ACTOR EVENTUALLY MY HEAD WOULDNOT STRETCH ANY FURTHER

03:15 there is an awful lot of movement in my head and my head only really comes to a stop when eventually my neck won’t stretch any further.

My Comment: I think this statement is actually preposterous to say the least. Let me rephrase it a different way I really felt the shock when my neck wouldn’t stretch any further without coming off altogether.

03:54 from the high speed and from my own experience that traveling backwards in a crash is probably safer

My Comment: This rocket scientist has actually earned the right to make that statement!!

02:08 that was like a proper shock, but I feel okay going backwards felt better

My Comment: At the time of the video Mr. Stansfield was completely oblivious to the injuries that had just occurred.

3.4 Million Dollar Settlement For A Low Speed Crash Makes News In The UK

Jem Stansfield, 46, agreed to be strapped into a specially designed cart and catapulted into a fake lamppost to mimic the effects of an accident, a court heard.

He admitted he was “a little nervous” beforehand but added: “Tests make me confident I will walk away but what we don’t know is how my body will behave.”

His head was shown jerking forward and back in the collision on BBC One science show Bang Goes the Theory in 2014.

The aeronautics expert claims the impact caused disabling whiplash, brain damage, psychological scars and dizziness.

His chances of recovery are “poor”, London’s High Court was told.

Lawyers say the crash ended engineer Mr. Stansfield’s “stellar” career and robbed him of earnings he claimed would be at the same level as Top Gear and Grand Tour hosts Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond.

The BBC has agreed to pay out two-thirds of Mr. Stansfield’s claim — after a discount for his “contributory negligence.

HIT HAPPENS…LOW SPEED WHIPLASH IS A REAL POSSIBILITY

So if you or a loved one have been in a low-speed collision you may or may not feel any pain at the time of the accident and this can be very deceiving and you might be thinking you are superman or superwoman but it is always smart to get checked any time you are involved in a car accident.
